Extremity Pain & Dysfunction

When most people think of chiropractors and what they do, the spine comes to mind. This is usual and understandable. Although most all chiropractors only treat spinal conditions, Dr. Manison has extensive training in the treatment and prevention of sports and extremity injuries. He is one of only a few Certified Chiropractic Extremity Practitioners (C.C.E.P.) in the State of Maryland. In addition, Dr. Manison has training as an Applied Kinesiologist and is a Certified Golf Rehabilitation Specialist as well as an Advanced Certified Graston Technique Practitioner. Dr. Manison is also full body Active Release Techniques (ART) certified.  He is one of only a few full body licensed Active Release practitioners in Maryland and is the only licensed provider in Columbia, Ellicott City, and Howard County.  He is also a Certified Kinesio® Taping Practitioner (CKTP). As the Official Baltimore Marathon Chiropractor as well as the Toyota Pro Beach Volleyball Chiropractor, Dr. Manison also has a lot of 'game day experience' treating a host of extremity injuries. He constructs functional foot orthotics in office and can apply advanced taping techniques for a host of sports injuries. Dr. Manison believes that many times extremity problems can cause spinal problems and vice versa. However, many times the problem only involves the extremity (extremities) involved. In the field of chiropractic, to effectively identify extremity problems and render the proper treatment protocol, additional specialized training is necessary.

Dr. Manison treats extremity conditions such as plantar fascitis, ankle sprains, gait abnormalities, knee pain and tracking disorders, hip dysfunction and pain, shoulder joint problems and rotator cuff tears, elbow tendinitis and tendinosis, wrist injuries such as DeQuervain's Disease, and more. Not unlike the spine, your extremity joints can be dysfunctional due to a host of reasons. In addition, sprains/strains are very common. Advanced training in this area of treatment allows Dr. Manison to better identify the cause of the problem and formulate an appropriate care plan.
