What's New at Columbia Advanced Chiropractic
We wish everyone a happy and healthy New Year!
Dr. Manison has been asked to write a chapter for a particular technique manual. This is very exciting and we will keep everyone informed of when the manual will go to print.
Dr. Manison is proud to now be an ART Ironman Provider.

Please don't forget to hit the 'Recommned' tab on the home page to keep in touch with us through Facebook. In addition, each blog can be 'recommended' and 'sent' to your friends via Facebook.
Dr. Manison's case study on cervical spine Cox Flexion/Distraction has been published. It is in the December 2011 edition of Journal of Chiropractic Medicine (JCM). JCM is one of only two chiropractic medically indexed journals. This is very exciting and is a huge accomplishment for a clinical doctor, as most doctors in practice do not publish. Click HERE to see the abstract for the study! Dr. Manison is going to begin on his second case study soon. Stay tuned as it will be on a totally different topic!
The Baltimore Marathon was on October 15, 2011. The weather was great. Dr. Manison was there to treat the elite runners. We'll have some pictures up as soon as possible. There was, however, a scary event that occurred this year. Please read the story by Meredith Cohn (The Baltimore Sun) below about the combined work of many people to help a person in need.

May 20th and 21st were the dates for the NVL/CSE Preakness Pro Beach Volleyball Tournament. 64 of the top players in the country were there and as medical director of Corrigan Sports Enterprises, Dr. Manison was there to coordinate and work with the medical staff. The athletes were taken care of and were happy. Dr. Manison sends out a big 'thank you' to Rocktape for sending product to help the athletes. As you can see below, functional/supportive taping is big with volleyball players!

Please visit our blog, 'Body at Work.' A very special thanks to Tammy Hepps for helping to create this for us. A blog is more dynamic than the articles on 'The Spinal Column' as we can have an ongoing discussion and Dr. Manison can answer questions and respond to comments as the discussions develop. The blog has replaced 'The Spinal Column' but all the past articles have their own blog page for you to read and/or comment on. Please feel free to make your way over to the Body at Work home page and open up the discussion on Shoulder Biomechanics and Shoulder Impingement 101 or any of the other discussions. Feel free to let us know what you would like Dr. Manison to talk about with future blog topics by posting on the Body at Work home page. Enjoy the blog...it should be educational and fun.
Congratulations to Dr. Manison for passing the Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) examination. This program, administered by the National Academy of Sports Medicine® (NASM®), teaches in-depth information about conditioning, exercise science, nutrition, psychology, and high-level training for athletes. To qualify for this program, you need at least a bachelors degree in a sports-related field. The NASM utlitizes the OPT® (Optimum Perforrmance Training®) system to help athletes achieve their conditioning and performance goals. The PES program is very valuable to anyone working with high-level athletes. This program blends in nicely with Dr. Manison's training as a rehabilition specialist.
Congratulations to Dr. Manison for passing the Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) examination. Like the PES program, this program is also administered by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and it requires a minimum of a bachelors degree in a sports-related field to qualify for the course. The CES program teaches screening protocols for injury and imbalance patterns and goes over ways to correct such issues. This program helps to enhance Dr. Manison's training as it provides additional tools to help identify musculoskeletal imbalances with exercise assessments.
Please check out Dr. Manison's other
website,
www.proforminstruction.com. Pro Form was
started to help fitness professionals/personal trainers
learn more essential skills and help them better work
with the medical community. Classes are taught
in-house or at designated locations around the country.
We hope everyone is enjoying what the website has to
offer. Please feel free to send us any comments regarding the website or any chiropractic concerns you may have. We are here to help you in any way that we can!
Please continue to keep an eye on the 'Related Sources' link on the bottom of each page. There you will find links to people, events, and organizations that Dr. Manison is involved with.
We should be adding some valuable links to that page soon.
We would like to extend a special 'thank you' to all our patients who have inspired us to keep learning, working, and always trying harder to offer the best quality chiropractic care possible! The greatest compliment anyone can give us is the referral of a family member or friend. We are very grateful to so many of you who not only trust us with helping to restore your health, but also allowing us to help with someone you care about.
