What's New at Columbia Advanced Chiropractic
Here's to all the snow! Let's hope Spring gets here soon!
Major updates to the website were recently completed. Please look around and see all the new changes! New pages on Dr. Manison's Diplomate Sports Physician designate, his Certification as a Kinesio®Taping Practioner / Specialist, his Certifed Strength and Conditioning Specialization, and on Cold Laser have been added. Please look for the links throughout the website or you can just 'click' on the topics above to read all about the additional credentials/specializations Dr. Manison has obtained as well as the services that Dr. Manison offers.
Please check out Dr. Manison's new
website,
www.proforminstruction.com. Pro Form was
started to help fitness professionals/personal trainers
learn more essential skills and help them better work
with the medical community. Classes are taught
in-house or at designated locations around the country.
Congratulations to Dr. Manison for
passing his Kinesio®
Taping Certification examination in July 2009. Dr. Manison is
a CKTP®,
or Certified Kinesio®
Taping Practitioner. He is now listed on the Kinesio Taping webpage. In regards to Kinesio Taping, most of us remember the
taping procedures from the Olympics. The tape is
unique and can be used to facilitate or inhibit muscles,
help with lymphatic/circulation issues, can be used to
support structures, and more...all the while allowing
for as normal as possible function. Please click here to learn more about Kinesio Taping.
We are proud to announce that Dr. Manison passed his
Diplomate Sports Physician examination that he took in
April 2009. He is now one of 230 Sports Diplomates
in the country and one of only two in state of Maryland.
The training for this program includes successful
completion of the Certified Chiropractic Sports
Practitioner®
(CCSP®)
program followed by an additional 210+ hours of sports
training. The exam includes a written test,
practical test, an abstract for publication, and proof
of over 100 additional hours of sports event work.
The American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians®
is the authority in the field of chiropractic on the
topics of management of injuries due to sports-related
activities. It is fully accredited by ICE (Institute for Credentialing Excellence), which was previously known as NOCA, or the National Organization of Credentialing Assurance. ICE is the credentialing authority in the
healthcare field. Achieving the title of DACBSP®,
or Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Board of
Sports Physicians®,
is a major achievement not only in the field of
chiropractic, but also in the field of sports medicine.
Congratulations to Dr. Manison for passing the CSCS® (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist®)
examination. This test, administered by the
National Strength and Conditioning Association,
certifies those with not less than an education level of
a bachelors in a sports medicine-related field in the
specific study of assessment and design of exercise and
nutrition programs for athletes of all levels. The
exam has two parts: one part on exercise science
(nutrition, biochemistry, kinesiology, physiology,
etc...) and the other part on exercise program
assessment and implementation.
We hope everyone is enjoying what the website has to
offer. Please feel free to send us any comments regarding the website or any chiropractic concerns you may have. We are here to help you in any way that we can!
Please continue to keep an eye on the 'Related Sources' link on the bottom of each page. There you will find links to people, events, and organizations that Dr. Manison is involved with.
We should be adding some valuable links to that page soon.
We would like to extend a special 'thank you' to all our patients who have inspired us to keep learning, working, and always trying harder to offer the best quality chiropractic care possible! The greatest compliment anyone can give us is the referral of a family member or friend. We are very grateful to so many of you who not only trust us with helping to restore your health, but also allowing us to help with someone you care about.
